DECATHLON’s water sports design teams, determined to blur the boundary between land and water, notice that paddle sports are often inaccessible to less experienced individuals. Hydrobike project explores a new inclusive nautical experience through pedaling, an activity familiar to all. The goal is to expand the space for practice and exploration, ensuring safety while marveling.

HydroBike is a pedal-powered watercraft with optimal efficiency. Its broad platform allows for a variety of activities, from play for children to camping and fishing. Modularity and safety are ensured through complete functionalization, from the seat to the pedals to the steering and storage systems. Inflatable floats ensure lightweight, easy repairability, and convenient storage, while the rotomolded platform ensures recyclability and local industrialization. The HydroBike enables motion without getting wet, offering a new experience of nautical mobility, ideal for urban environments as well as natural water bodies.
The HydroBike project is a proof of concept for the functional economy.The goal is to provide an experience without requiring purchase, thus promoting price accessibility without compromising quality. Designed for rental, the Hydrobike catalyzes value for rental ecosystems. This economic model directly influences product design, which must meet user and professional constraints: attractiveness, durability, repairability, and optimal storage.
